IVI Foundation announces compatibility with Windows 7

April 20, 2010 - The IVI Foundation today announced IVI, VXIplug&play, and VISA support for Windows 7, to help engineers and scientists attain faster performance and higher throughput within their applications. Engineers and scientists considering upgrading to the latest computer hardware can now take advantage of IVI driver compatibility to successfully migrate their applications to the latest operating system from Microsoft. In addition to 32-bit support, IVI drivers can be run on the 64-bit version of Windows 7 operating system as well. "For more than 10 years, the IVI Foundation has continued to deliver drivers that help with interchangeability while continuing to stay on top of technology trends," said Joe Mueller, President of IVI Foundation. "Windows 7 support for IVI drivers shows our dedication in keeping up with latest technology while delivering drivers that define a new level of quality, completeness, usability, and functionality that reduces the cost of test system development and ownership." The IVI Foundation brings together some of the biggest names in the industry to define different instrument classes and ensures that any given IVI compliant driver seamlessly interfaces with nearly all major development environments, such as C++, C#, Visual Basic, LabVIEW, MATLAB, and Agilent VEE. IVI compliant instrument drivers offer instrument simulation, state caching and range checking in addition to classic interchangeability. The number of instrument classes that are supported by IVI standards has recently expanded to 12 instrument classes with the addition of digitizer, counter/timer, upconverter, and downconverter instruments.
