May 24, 2011 - Full-color eight-page brochure from ABB covers the company's wide range of rotameters, also known as variable area flowmeters. The brochure includes a colorful selection chart matching the appropriate ABB model with application flow rates, pressures, temperatures, and functions. The remainder of the brochure covers the ABB rotameter models in more detail, providing information on tube materials, indication and alarming, communications, and applications. Covered are models with glass, metal, and acrylic tubes, as well as those for special applications.

According to the brochure, rotameters measure flows of liquids and gases via a tapered tube and float system. Aside from their low cost, they are accurate, reliable and simple to install and maintain. The brochure says that rotameters have been a popular choice since Fischer & Porter, an ABB legacy company, introduced the first mass-produced glass-tube flowmeter in 1937. ABB is a leader in power and automation technologies that enable utility and industry customers to improve performance while lowering environmental impact. The ABB Group of companies operates in around 100 countries and employs about 124,000 people.
