June 1, 2011 — Barry-Wehmiller Design Group acquired Cadence Technologies, a process systems integration and engineering firm specializing in services for the beverage and food processing industries. “For 25 years, the Design Group has provided a wide range of engineering, project management and other technical services for packaging automation, facility & utility system design, and process system design,” stated Joseph Wilhelm, the firm’s managing partner. “This merger of Cadence Technologies into our firm greatly expands our capabilities to provide sanitary process design services for beverage and food applications.” Cadence Technologies, located in Atlanta, is a full-service process design firm that specializes in providing high purity process systems and strategic engineering consulting for a wide range of process applications. Founded in 1987, Cadence has considerable expertise in thermally processed and carbonated beverage applications, as well as process engineering requirements for a wide range of food and consumer products. “We are excited about the growth opportunities presented to Cadence as part of the Design Group,” stated Hank Brink, founder and CEO of Cadence Technologies. “We already provide engineering services on a national basis, but our alignment with Design Group’s existing process organization will provide us much greater capability to serve our clients.” Brink will remain with Cadence Technologies in a senior executive role. Glenn Cooper, president of Cadence Technologies, will also remain with the firm and will concurrently serve as the leader of the Design Group’s Atlanta office. With the merger of the Cadence and Design Group teams, Atlanta will become a major regional office for the firm. “We are thrilled to join forces with Design Group. This merger creates a powerful national engineering practice serving the process design needs of our clients,” Cooper stated. “Cadence Technologies has provided exceptional talent and a deep commitment to its clients for nearly 25 years,” Wilhelm added. “Our two firms share common values, and our teams are uniquely suited for each other.
