October 17, 2011 - "Digital Factory" - the Trade Fair for Integrated Processes and IT Solutions, is getting a new home at HANNOVER MESSE 2012. The new location in Hall 7 is in direct proximity to the process automation themes covered by the Industrial Automation show. To the north, the Industrial Supply show, featuring industrial subcontracting solutions and lightweight construction themes, will further complement the Digital Factory. This year the Digital Factory will demonstrate the extent to which IT usage has progressed beyond standard software issues. Apart from heavily influencing the products themselves, today's industrial IT is also increasingly determining the relevant production and development processes as well as the associated services. The Digital Factory's new location in Hall 7 will lay the cornerstone for the ICT solutions hub at HANNOVER MESSE. "From its inception, the Digital Factory was conceived of as the leading trade fair for integrated processes and IT solutions. Since that time it has firmly established itself as a platform for topics involving integration and development (PLM), planning (ERP) and production control (MES). The closer proximity means we can now more strongly integrate areas that were previously for the most part separate, such as enterprise IT and automation IT, and also take up leading-edge topics like the smart factory and Cyber Physical Systems (CPS)," explained Rainer Glatz, Managing Director of the Software Association within VDMA (the German Engineering Federation), based in Frankfurt am Main. "Moving the Digital Factory to Hall 7 was a response to the industry's desire to put the IT topics covered at HANNOVER MESSE closer to the main industrial communications topics at Industrial Automation. This represents an additional instance of integrating horizontal and vertical themes at HANNOVER MESSE," stated Oliver Frese, Senior Vice President for HANNOVER MESSE at Deutsche Messe AG. "The new Digital Factory location entails an additional advantage in that the areas of intersection between Digital Factory exhibitors and their IT customers from the subcontracting industry - represented at the Industrial Supply show in the adjacent halls 3 to 6 - will now be highlighted for the first time. Both parties will benefit from the new visitor orientation at HANNOVER MESSE 2012," he concluded. "We see the new location for the Digital Factory in Hall 7 as a valorization of all the solutions presented at this trade fair," said Andreas Schünemann, Director of Marketing at AUCOTEC AG. "The digital factory and the services it provides have become key factors for efficient automation at companies from all sectors. The central placement and integration in the automation and subcontracting environment are in response to this development. AUCOTEC now has an even better chance to take advantage of its special strengths in this area, i.e. the achievement of synergies for our clients through the intelligent integration of previously distinct engineering processes," he added. "As a leading provider of product lifecycle management software (PLM), we view the Digital Factory as the principal industrial trade fair where we can present our broad product range - above all thanks to the proximity to companies exhibiting in a wide variety of industries there. Moving the Digital Factory to Hall 7 will reinforce this positive effect: On the one hand, thanks to the new proximity to providers of automation equipment and solutions as well as to a number of different subcontracting themes. On the other, by positioning PLM in the middle of topics related to product development as well as production and automation," commented Michael Brückmann, Marketing Manager Central Europe at Dassault Systèmes. "PLM is already the most important bridge to integrating these central enterprise processes," he concluded.
