June 26, 2012—The FDT certification office has experienced a record surge in DTM certifications in the first six months of 2012. More than 900 intelligent devices are supported by 42 newly issued certificates. Vendors wishing to certify their FDT DTMs as complying with the FDT standard must submit their DTM to an authorized, independent test laboratory for extensive automated and manual tests. Upon successful completion of the test, the FDT Group issues a certificate of conformance for the DTM.

“We are very pleased to see the continued adoption of the FDT standard,” comments KatrienPeeters of the FDT Group Certification Office. “We are on pace to experience our highest annual volume of certifications in the history of the program. We anticipate that certifications for the new FDT2 standard will add to this volume as the year progresses as the new highly testedFDT2 Common Components will help vendors streamline the entire certification process.”

Certification of FDT DTMs and FDT Frames is a requirement for many end users as it helps to ensure interoperability of systems, devices, and networks regardless of the supplier mix. A searchable catalog of DTMs and Frames that have obtained FDT Group certification is available at the FTD Group website.
