Peter G. Martin Named ISA Fellow

June 25, 2013 - Invensys announced that Peter G. Martin, Ph.D., the company’s vice president of business value solutions, has been elevated to the distinguished grade of ISA Fellow. The honor was granted for Martin’s outstanding achievements in the fields of science and engineering, as recognize by the International Society of Automation. "Peter Martin is a world-renowned industry expert, and he has been duly recognized for developing his patented real-time, sensor-based dynamic performance measures, among many other achievements,” said Patrick Gouhin, executive director and chief executive director of the ISA. “His groundbreaking work has improved process tuning and profitability control for industrial operations across the globe.” Aside from dynamic performance measures, Martin holds multiple patents, including patents for real-time activity-based costing; closed-loop business control; and asset and resource modeling. He has published numerous articles and technical papers and has authored or co-authored three books: Bottom Line Automation; Dynamic Performance Management: The Pathway to World-Class Manufacturing; and Automation Made Easy: Everything You Wanted to Know About Automation – and need to ask. In 2002, Martin was named one of Fortune magazine’s “Hero of U.S. Manufacturing” and one of InTech magazine’s 50 most influential innovators of all time in instrumentation and controls. In 2009, he accepted the ISA Life Achievement Award, recognizing his work in integrating financial and production measures that improve the profitability and performance of industrial process plants. In 2013 he was inducted into Control magazine’s Process Automation Hall of Fame. He has a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in mathematics, a master’s degree in administration and management and doctorates in industrial engineering and biblical studies. Martin will be formally recognized as an ISA Fellow at the organization’s Honors & Awards Gala taking place on Monday, November 4, 2013. The annual Gala honors individuals for their contributions to and advancement of automation across all industries. The prestigious black-tie event will be held in conjunction with ISA Automation Week, occurring at the Nashville Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn., November 5 through November 7.
