March 31, 2014 – Contemporary Controls joined the EnOcean Alliance. Becoming a member of the well-established EnOcean ecosystem for sustainable buildings, Contemporary Controls pursues its consistent approach of providing integrated customized automation solutions, now integrating BACnet and EnOcean. Contemporary Controls designs and manufactures the system building blocks for networking, integrating and controlling automation processes where performance and reliability are important. With headquarters based in the US, the company has operations in the UK, Germany and China. Contemporary Controls’ building automation solution (BASautomation) is based on a BACnet product line consisting of routers, gateways and controllers. This portfolio will now be expanded by offering EnOcean connectivity. First prototypes of the company’s EnOcean-based solution are on display at Light+Building show (hall 9.0, booth B49) with release dates scheduled for summer 2014. “We see EnOcean as one of the most innovative and established technologies introduced in recent years. Its low-power wireless approach plus energy harvesting technologies fit in very well with our company’s quest to develop sustainable building automation products,” says Kirk Clousson, Product Marketing Manager, Contemporary Controls. “We are looking forward to supporting the EnOcean Alliance in promoting the standard and increasing its awareness around the world.”    “The EnOcean Alliance is delighted to welcome Contemporary Controls, this long-established international company of the building industry, as a new member,” says Graham Martin, Chairman of the EnOcean Alliance. “It’s great to see these experts, who always combine customer needs and sustainability to an integrated system approach, bringing closer together the BACnet and EnOcean world.” Today, the EnOcean Alliance counts more than 350 companies of the building industry worldwide. They all develop and market quality-based building automation systems integrating the EnOcean energy harvesting wireless standard. Being wireless and batteryless, the 1,200 products combine highest flexibility with reliable performance and the unique advantage of a green technology that avoids hazardous battery waste. This is the basis for a sustainable system approach for energy-saving buildings. About EnOcean Alliance Leading companies worldwide from the building sector collected to form the EnOcean Alliance and establish innovative automation solutions for sustainable building projects – and so to make buildings more energy-efficient, more flexible and lower in cost.
