The Automation and Power Center is expected to open in the second quarter of 2015.
March 4, 2015 – ABB is developing an Automation and Power Center in Houston. Expected to open in the second quarter of 2015, the center will showcase ABB’s full offering to help utility, industry and infrastructure companies increase their productivity and energy efficiency while maintaining safety and reliability at the highest level.
ABB offers the most comprehensive portfolio to make the process of obtaining, delivering and using all types of energy more reliable and efficient, from generation, transmission and distribution through to end use. Visitors to the center will be able to see how these products, systems and services fit along flow of energy from source to socket.
“As technology moves forward at an almost breakneck pace, companies in every industry have to constantly keep watch for ways to improve their bottom line. But they also want to remove the burden of complexity from their new projects and ongoing operations as much as possible,” said Kevin Kosisko, Americas Region Division Manager, Process Automation for ABB. “Whether that is control rooms designed to make the people working in them most effective, or electrical products designed to the highest safety and efficiency standards, or services to help extend the useful life of equipment or even a whole facility, our customers want solutions that will seamlessly work together at every stage of their operations.
“The Automation and Power Center will show what that seamlessly integrated solution can look like. Rather than a simple display of products and services, visitors will actually see how the total ABB portfolio connects together and delivers real, positive, bottom-line results.”
The center will also house the Houston ABB marine training center, which provides all levels and types of training for those in the maritime industry. Courses not only include product training, but also focus on personnel safety and compliance with international standards.
To further serve customers in the area, ABB has a major marine service center located on the Houston Ship Channel that provides maintenance, repairs and other services for propulsion and power systems for marine vessels. In addition, ABB has a turbocharging service center in Deer Park, just outside of Houston, that provides spare parts, as well as both in-house and field support services, for the turbochargers used on a variety of large engines. Both centers serve all types of marine vessels, including transport tankers, FPSOs (floating production, storage and offloading vessels), drill ships and other vessels used in the oil and gas industry.
ABB is a global leader in power and automation technologies that enable utility and industry customers to improve performance while lowering environmental impact. The ABB Group of companies operates in around 100 countries and employs about 145,000 people. The company has invested heavily in North America over the past five years, with acquisitions totaling nearly $10 billion. ABB employs around 30,000 people throughout the region.Learn More
