Lucca, 24 February 2015 – From 21 to 28 June 2015, Lucca (Tuscany) will host the second edition of “iT's tissue – The Italian Technology Experience.” This international biennial event is unique in the world and offers the opportunity to get in touch with one of the jewels of Italian industry: the technology for the production of tissue paper for hygienic and household use.
In Lucca – the so-called “Tissue Valley” – “iT's tissue” will offer the industry’s operators from all over the world the chance to discover the best “made in Italy” technologies to produce, convert, package and handle tissue products, such as toilet paper, kitchen rolls, facial tissues, napkins, and handkerchiefs for consumer and professional sectors.
Promoters of the event are 12 Italian companies: A. Celli. Elettric80, Fabio Perini, Futura, Gambini, MTC, Omet, PCMC, Pulsar, Recard, TMC andToscotec. With a combined €600 million estimated turnover in 2014 (more than 90% generated by export to five continents), they have a strong presence in the area, and some can trace their history back 150 years. These 12 businesses employ today more than 3,000 people in 23 plants in Italy and around the world. Many of them are direct competitors in the market, but have joined forces under the “Tissue Italy” network and organized “iT's tissue” to emphasize the importance of the industry in which they operate.
During “iT's tissue,” the network companies will open their doors to demonstrate their innovative technological solutions, simultaneously in Lucca, Reggio Emilia and Lecco.
This will be an opportunity to come face-to-face with enterprises where innovation is the primary goal, as proved by the continuous and significant investments in Research and Development undertaken throughout the network.
Matteo Gentili, Chairman of the Tissue Italy network: “The objective of this second edition is to bring to the attention of operators in the Italian and international business community the high level of innovation undertaken by our industry and its potential, as well as its impact on our national economy and employment.”
The first edition of “iT's tissue” held in 2013 was attended by more than 700 operators in the sector from at least 70 countries around the world. Half the visitors came from outside the European Union, from Brazil to North America, from South Africa to China.
The international reach of the event is also confirmed by the support of excellent sponsors such as: Rockwell Automation, the world's largest company dedicated to industrial automation and information; Henkel, a group operating worldwide with leading technologies in three business areas (Laundry & Home Care, Beauty Care, and Adhesives Technologies); SKF, the leading worldwide manufacturer and supplier of ball and roller bearings, linear motion products, precision bearings, spindles and seals; Fanuc, the global leader in factory automation; and Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, the third largest banking group in Italy.
