December 8, 2015 – South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G) selected PAS PowerGraphiX to improve operator situation awareness with High Performance HMI (HPHMI) graphics. SCE&G is a regulated public utility engaged in the generation, transmission, distribution, and sale of electricity to approximately 695,000 customers in 24 counties. SCE&G will initially implement PowerGraphiX at their Cope Station facility in Cope, South Carolina.

Developed specifically for coal-fired, combined cycle, and super-critical power plants, PowerGraphiX uses advanced data visualization techniques and field-proven pattern recognition objects to make sense of the thousands of data points required to operate. PowerGraphiX provides consistent, simplified design, development, and maintenance of operator graphical interfaces, enabling:

  • Greater operator situation awareness and effectiveness
  • Fewer unplanned outages
  • Lower operator training time and effort
  • Reduced graphics development and maintenance costs.

PowerGraphiX includes templates, object libraries, and best practices guidelines for the design and implementation of power plant operator interfaces. It gives power companies access to a full suite of proven graphics that greatly improve an operator’s ability to manage a power generation unit and effectively mitigate abnormal situations.

“We are pleased that SCE&G has chosen PAS to help improve operator graphics in their fleet operations,” said Mark Carrigan, senior vice president of global operations at PAS. “PAS has focused on improving operator effectiveness for more than 20 years. Working with industry leaders such as SCE&G helps us develop powerful industry-specific solutions and best practice methodologies that enable safe and reliable operations.”
