The program strengthens U.S. manufacturing and offers a straightforward pathway for companies to comply with domestic content rules.

July 3, 2025 - ARLINGTON, Va. - The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has announced that Master Control Systems, Inc. is the most recent company to obtain NEMA’s Make It American certification.
NEMA launched the Make It American certification program to help the market identify products and manufacturing facilities that have implemented best-in-class processes to meet Build America, Buy America Act (BABA) domestic content requirements. Master Control Systems, Inc., based in Lake Bluff, IL, is the sixth company to obtain the certification and demonstrate its commitment to domestic manufacturing.
The Make It American certification enables companies to demonstrate that their processes and supply chain management systems have undergone rigorous, third-party expert audits–providing greater certainty and confidence to manufacturers, government agencies and procurement officials seeking to source materials with enhanced levels of U.S.-manufactured content. Master Control Systems certified its Lake Bluff, IL facility to NEMA’s Make It American Process Standard. NEMA also offers certifications for individual product specifications, with low-voltage power distribution equipment (LVDE) and wire and cable currently available and more specifications for other product categories on the way.
“The U.S. electroindustry has invested over $185 billion in domestic electrical component manufacturing since 2018,” said Debra Phillips, president and CEO, NEMA. “NEMA’s Make It American Program builds on the industry’s long-standing commitment to U.S. manufacturing leadership by offering a rigorous, third-party verified certification that supports compliance with federal requirements while promoting investment in U.S.-based jobs and production.”
“We have looked at 2 CFR Part 184 ourselves, but never felt comfortable signing compliance certificates without a deeper understanding of the intent of the Build America, Buy America Act. The NEMA Make It American program gave us that confidence,” said William F. Stelter, PE, President and Owner, Master Control Systems, Inc. “It’s an outstanding program that is particularly valuable due to the third-party audit and registry that is used.”
NEMA’s Make It American certification program is a comprehensive initiative that includes precedent-setting standards, certifications and resources to help electrical manufacturers navigate domestic content requirements. Through these tools, NEMA empowers manufacturers to make informed decisions, strengthen critical supply chains, and support U.S. infrastructure and economic growth. Companies that successfully complete the certification audit are granted marks to showcase their rigorous supply chain processes, commitment to transparency, and enhanced domestic manufacturing footprint.
