KUKA Collaborates With Vision Tech Company For End-to-End Palletizing Applications at Automate 2022

June 6, 2022 - KUKA unveiled the future of vision-guided robotics at Automate 2022 with a palletizing/depalletizing demonstration featuring a KR IONTEC medium payload robot mated with a robotic pick-and-place perception solution from Roboception GmbH, a pioneer of 3D sensor technology.

Interfaced with a KR IONTEC, a highly flexible robot with the best work envelope in its class, Roboception’s rc_reason BoxPick 3D-vision module uses artificial intelligence (AI) to detect stationary items with rectangular surfaces and determine their position, orientation and size for picking.

Once the box locations were identified, the KR IONTEC, which is suitable for a vast variety of industrial applications including handling, packing and palletizing, completed the next pick action for fast, efficient stacking. The KR IONTEC is fully digitized and future-ready with digital Motion Modes that adapt robot performance to various processes or sub-steps depending on the need for higher precision or speed.

Designed for maximum flexibility, the KR IONTEC family ranges in reach from 2100 mm to 3100 mm, and its payload can easily be converted from 30 to 70 kg to minimize production interruptions.

Always focusing on long-term end-to-end automation solutions, the KR IONTEC family of robots is highly sustainable with low energy consumption, operating costs and maintenance.
