National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) under its Energy Transition Campaign has launched an interactive map of the new electrified energy system.

March 20, 2023 - The world is electrifying. Over the next decade, the U.S. government will invest hundreds of billions of dollars in an electrified, more resilient, sustainable, decarbonized and connected energy system. The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) under its Energy Transition Campaign has launched an interactive map of the new electrified energy system.
“Electrical systems are the backbone of this new electrified energy future.” said NEMA’s president & CEO Debra Phillips. “The electroindustry is the powerhouse that makes modern life possible, from smart lighting to connected electric vehicles to renewable energy generation and energy storage.”
“By its very nature, the new electrified energy system is complex and interconnected, and the journey to achieve its promise is riddled with challenges and opportunities," said NEMA Energy Transition Campaign Chairman, Alexis Bernard, Hubbell Incorporated’s CTO. “Together, we must carefully navigate the road to electrification, identifying the accelerators and barriers to arriving at our destination. Over the next decade, we will be faced with choices that affect our ability to deliver the anticipated 12% rise in electricity demand, the addition of 26 million electric vehicles to our roads, and the grid’s ability to provide affordable, reliable energy to all Americans.”
“It is an imperative for society to modernize the grid and rapidly make it increasingly cleaner and greener,” said Ken Boyce, Senior Director of Principal Engineering for UL Solutions. “We must act with urgency to achieve a true energy transition driven by renewable energy, electrification, and advanced energy technologies for transportation, infrastructure, and mobility solutions. UL Solutions, NEMA's partner on the energy transition campaign, is glad to apply our scientific expertise and extend our deep partnership with the electroindustry to build a safe, secure and sustainable energy future.”
This interactive map includes the critical nodes from microgrids that generate and store energy locally to electrified, smart, and connected buildings and transportation systems. By exploring each node, users can learn more about what we can all do together to accelerate our progress toward this vision of the future.
