Nov. 3, 2020 - Process Sensors, the IR Temperature Division of KPM Analytics, is pleased to introduce its newest high speed, one- and two-color pyrometer Series PSC-55N. Designed for use by the steel and metals industries, ceramic and furnace industries, and soldering applications, the versatile PSC-55N series pyrometers are ideal for precise temperature measurements from 200°C to 3000°C, and operate in the shortwave spectral range with fast, adjustable response time of 5 milliseconds to reduce or compensate for changes in target or surface emissivity.
  
Three sighting methods for precision aiming are available: through-lens sighting, an integrated red laser aiming light, or color video.  The video version is recommended for remote real-time viewing via a video monitor in a control room or laboratory. The video camera also facilitates installation in difficult conditions when the pyrometer is hard to reach or the measured area is not easily accessible.

There are four high resolution (up to 300:1) fixed focus optics selections to choose from as well as optionally available variable optics with motorized focus ability. The PSC-55N features a programable interactive menu/display with push buttons on the rear panel for adjustment of the IR sensor parameters: ratio correction, emissivity, sub-temperature range, built-in alarm, response time, peak picker and many others. The two-color PSC-55NT is easily switchable from two-color (ratio) operation to one-color operation. 

The PSC-55N has a galvanically isolated RS-485 digital output.  This makes the sensor bus capable using Modbus RTU protocol. 

Process Sensors IR Temperature Division Manager, Scott Nagle, said, “The rugged PSC-55N is ideal for harsh environments, OEM’s and laboratories.  Its specially designed compact cylindrical size is easily adaptable to existing measurement and control systems making retrofitting easy, transparent and seamless.” The stainless steel self-contained sensor has a full range of accessories including a heavy-duty protective cooling jacket with integrated air purge and mounting equipment for harsh, dirty conditions.  The protective cooling jacket is rated for ambient temperatures up to 392°F/200°C.

PSCSpot for Windows software is standard and is provided for storage, processing, and evaluation of real time measured data.  It provides extensive statistical analysis of data, export of measured data as test files and creates Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. The software also provides an integrated report function with customized templates for Microsoft Word and an integrated calculator for easy calculation of optics parameters.
