CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 2, 2025 – CERATIZIT introduced its WTX-UNI and WTX-Deep UNI solid carbide drills, bringing a universal solution for shops that need performance, flexibility and sustainability across a wide range of materials. Designed to simplify tool selection, the WTX-UNI drill range delivers reliable precision drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron and hardened steels up to 54 Hardness Rockwell C. By reducing the number of drills required for multiple applications, manufacturers can streamline inventory, cut down on tool changes and improve overall machining efficiency.
“For shops working with a variety of metals on a regular basis, the WTX-UNI makes everyone’s job easier,” said Troy Wilt, managing director of CERATIZIT USA, Cutting Tools Division. “The drill range reduces inventory quantities while also delivering reliable cutting results.”
The WTX-UNI solid carbide drill is built from CERATIZIT’s CT-GS20Y upGRADE carbide, the company’s most sustainable substrate to date, and made from 99-percent recycled raw materials. Its patented end geometry, with a convex cutting edge and a 140-degree point angle, ensures excellent self-centering and tool stability. Combined with a modern DPA74S coating and an optimized flute design, the drill provides efficient chip evacuation, reduced risk of jamming and outstanding tool life. Available in diameters ranging from 3 mm to 20 mm, the drills can be supplied in 3xD and 5xD lengths with or without coolant, and in multiple shank styles. For greater stability, the WTX-Quattro adds four guide lands and is offered in 5xD, 8xD and 12xD versions, with the 8xD and 12xD designs featuring a modified 135-degree point angle for superior performance in deep applications.
For manufacturers requiring extreme hole depths, the WTX-Deep UNI solid carbide drill extends the range with a drilling capability of up to 50xD. Because of its redesigned geometry, polished chip spaces and four guide lands, the solid carbide drill provides maximum process reliability, high drilling accuracy and minimal hole deviation. The tool is coated with CERATIZIT’s DPX74-M high-performance coating, which further extends tool life under demanding conditions. Stocked in diameters from 3 to 14 mm or 3 to 8 mm, the WTX-Deep UNI is also available in inch sizes specifically for the North American market.
Alongside high performance, sustainability remains central to the WTX range. The use of recycled carbide significantly reduces the carbon footprint of the tools, and each drill can be reground and recoated to its original specification, further extending tool life and conserving resources.
