October 9, 2014 - Lantronix announced xPico Wi-Fi Pi Plate expansion board, which enables the easy integration of the Lantronix xPico Wi-Fi device server with the popular Raspberry Pi single board computer. The Raspberry Pi is a credit-card-sized single-board computer developed in the UK by the Raspberry Pi Foundation with the intention of promoting the teaching of basic computer science in schools. The Raspberry Pi model B has a Broadcom BCM2835 system on a chip (SoC), which includes an ARM1176JZF-S 700 MHz processor, VideoCore IV GPU, 512 MB RAM, and wired Ethernet. It does not include a built-in hard disk or solid-state drive, but uses an SD card for booting and persistent storage. In 2014 the Raspberry Pi Foundation announced that more than three million Raspberry Pi boards had been shipped. The Lantronix xPico Wi-Fi Pi Plate makes enabling Wi-Fi connectivity easier than ever. It completely offloads Wi-Fi connectivity for the Raspberry Pi with support for advanced features such as simultaneous Soft Access Point and Client mode, Wi-Fi connection management and QuickConnect.
