February 12, 2014 - ABB releases DCT880 thyristor power controller for the accurate control of ohmic or inductive heating elements and infrared radiators in glass, plastic, annealing, drying, melting or heating applications. DCT880 controllers are available in eight compact sizes, ranging from 20A to 4,100A. The integrated three-phase current measurement allows for implementing all load configurations from star, delta, single- and two-phase all the way to reactive-power optimized transformer control. The diversity of control modes (phase-angle, wave package, half-wave as well as I, U, P and I² control) enables the dynamic and accurate control of the most demanding applications, even with high dynamic requirements or high hot-cold ratio. In addition, the DCT880 power optimization smoothes load peaks thus reducing energy costs significantly. The integrated CoDeSys programming, free process controllers and the support of all commercially available field busses provide the user with maximum flexibility. In 2012, ABB Germany generated sales of €3.57 billion with approximately 10,000 employees. ABB is a leader in power and automation technologies that enable utility and industry customers as well as wholesalers to improve performance while lowering environmental impact. The ABB Group of companies operates in around 100 countries and employs about 150,000 people. All figures indicated are based on US-GAAP.
