Deutschmann enhances EtherNet/IP on UNIGATE FC node

February 6, 2014 -Deutschmann enhances EtherNet/IP on UNIGATE FC node. UNIGATE FC nodes for EtherNet/IP now support the Device Level Ring (DLR) protocol which enables redundant ring topologies in EtherNet/IP networks.

The ready-to-install UNIGATE FCs are full-fledged Etherned nodes that are connected to the terminal device microprocessor via a UART interface, taking over the entire data communication processing workload. The miniature devices integrate all necessary components such as a microcontroller, flash, RAM, a 2-port switch, and an RJ interface including a diagnosis LED.

The UNIGATE FC multi-protocol module is available for EtherNet/IP, Ethernet TCP/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP, and BACnet/IP. Deutschmann supplies the “Protocol Developer” PC tool free of charge. It is used to program the script which controls the communication between the device processor and the UNIGATE FC. Changes to the terminal device firmware are not necessary.
