March 3, 2014 - Wibu-Systemintroduced CmStick/IV (Internal Vertical), a space-saving CodeMeter hardware protection dongle that can be connected upright directly to the USB port on the motherboard of a PC or embedded system. Because it connects vertically, it requires less space and can be more easily installed in compact devices. It has 2 x 5 pins and a 2.54 mm pitch. CodeMeter is the company's licensing and copy protection solution for use by independent software developers. The CmStick/IV CmStick/IV contains a smart card chip to execute cryptographic functions and secure key storage. These internal USB interfaced devices are available with an extended environment temperature range comprised between -25ºC and +85ºC, increased electrostatic discharge (ESD) immunity and optional conformal coating for condensing humidity. Custom configurations can also be produced. The CodeMeter platform provides software developers with secure and flexible licensing, copy and IP protection, and automated entitlement management across the software licensing lifecycle. It provides software activated or hardware based security for network applications, cloud services, embedded systems or mobile devices.
