HCL Technologies announces Smart Condition Monitor

February 15, 2013 - Smart Condition Monitor is a smart phone based hand held vibration monitor for rotating equipment. For monitoring, users connect a customized accessory to iPhone , with accelerometer connected to other end of accessory. The sensor sends the vibration data to accessory that has a microcontroller. Data from accessory is sent to iPhone using a UART interface. On the iPhone , vibration data are plotted as real time graphs and as 400 line resolution FFT plot. Measured data can be replayed, sent as email or to cloud servers, more analysis done on cloud and interpretations sent back to phone.   The vibration sensor are powered by battery in accessory and does not use iPhone battery. Accessory battery are charged using iPhone battery charger. A single charge can power the accessory and sensor for 4 hours of continuous operation.   This concept can be extended to be used as Hand held analyzer using any other sensor or even connect to Multiple sensors. The Smart phone App can be extended to include more complex Vibration analysis like Wavelets, Pattern recognition to make the vibration analysis comprehensive.
