February 16, 2012 - Canary Labs released Version 9.5 of its data historian. Version 9.5 enhancements include expansion of data replication, extended communication capabilities, the Canary Mobile Application, add-ins for Microsoft Excel and support for historical aggregates. Canary Labs enhanced the data historian replication functionality to allow users access to high speed data from other Canary Enterprise Historians. This enhancement simplifies the consolidation of data to a centralized server, transfers real-time and/or historical data outside a firewall to the corporate business environment or serves as a real-time backup of critical data. The latest release also adds extended communication capabilities via the Canary Web Service and Canary ODBC driver. Utilizing the Microsoft Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), Canary Web Service leverages an industry standard communications infrastructure to allow wider accessibility to data through the Internet and secure firewalls via the Canary Enterprise Historian. The Canary ODBC driver allows easy access using SQL type queries to the Canary Enterprise Historian via Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) for third-party business systems such as Oracle, SAP and Crystal Reports. Canary Mobile, the Canary Labs mobile application provides access to real-time and historical data via the Canary Web Service. Users can make informed decisions from any location at any time using their Smartphone or tablet. Release 9.5 also includes additional tools to provide real-time and historical data for advanced analytics. The Canary Excel Add-in uses the Canary Web Service to provide access to the Canary Historian via Microsoft Excel. Users easily can drop data into charts and reports from any location in their enterprise. The Canary Enterprise Historian includes support for the soon to be released OPC Unified Architecture (OPC-UA) Historical Aggregates function.
