R. STAHL introduces 9160 transmitter power supplies

May 9, 2012 - R. STAHL introduces 9160 transmitter power supplies in an intrinsically safe interface for standard voltage signals, and a SIL 3 version for functional safety applications according to IEC EN 61508. Users can design the sensor part of a safety function as a single-channel version according to SIL 3, or, in two-channel set-ups, extend the required test cycles.

Transmitter supply units are available as one and two-channel versions, enabling space-saving installation in the cabinet. In addition to the connection of two-wire transmitters, the units also allow for the operation of three-wire-versions and the transmission of signals from four-wire-transmitters. HART signals are transmitted bidirectionally. The units can be easily installed both on DIN rails and via the pac-Bus system. By means of the pac-Bus system, which can be installed without any tools, all units are immediately supplied with power, and the line fault message is read out as a common error message. Moreover, the new transmitter supply units can also be installed in a pac carrier, a backplane solution that considerably facilitates the connection to DCS systems. Both functionally and concerning safety data, the new generation units are fully compatible with the versions available up to now, allowing for smooth changeovers and requiring no changes to circuit diagrams or intrinsic safety certificates.
