July 19, 2012 - Siemens Industry expanded its rugged, industrial Simatic HMI Comfort Panels to include 15-, 19- and 22-inch color touch screens. The panels offer long-life displays, are easily configured, provide high resolution, and are readable up to 170 degrees from all directions. The LED background lighting can be dimmed up to 100 percent -- manually or via standardized Profienergy communication – to reduce energy consumption as well as extend service life and adjust the brightness for application requirements. All Simatic HMI Comfort Panels include Profinet and Profibus network interfaces, as well as connecting to a USB periphery. Commissioning is also quick and easy. All the Ethernet settings are automatically accepted. The 15-inch format also is available with a key operation. Improving on the communication capabilities provided by the two-port Profinet switch, the 15- to 22-inch devices have an additional addressable Profinet interface to integrate into a second network. The touch devices can also be installed vertically for applications in restricted spaces. The product portfolio of widescreen format Comfort Panels now includes 4, 7, 9, 12, 15, 19 and 22 inch models.
