Ubisense introduces Presence tracking system

  • May 12, 2009

May 12 2009 - Ubisense Presence works with the Ubisense Platform software and standard Ubisense dual-mode 2.4GHz/UWB tags and sensors to provide a spectrum of tagging and location options from basic tag-to-sensor association and telemetry, through coarse-grained location using 2.4GHz RF, to precise real-time location using UWB. These options can be freely mixed on a single site, optimizing cost-effectiveness by allowing customers to tune infrastructure to their requirements: at one extreme a single sensor can support basic presence and telemetry over an area of more than half a million square feet (50000m2), and at the other a six-sensor cell covering sixty thousand square feet (6000m2) can locate tags in real time with errors of less than six inches (15cm). The new options also help customers with specialized problems, such as detecting when a bus leaves its depot, when a security tag is placed in a metal bag, or when a car drives through a road junction. Ubisense Presence has already been through end-user production tests and is already in use for applications as diverse as transit depot management, smart exhibitions and worker safety in industrial plants.
