BEI introduces HS35 encoder for oil field applications

February 21, 2008 - BEI Industrial Encoders introduces the dual output drawworks HS35 encoder for oil field applications. This specifically designed encoder combines rugged, heavy-duty features into a unique through-shaft style for use as a winch-turns counter in the drawworks system of oil rigs. The dual output drawworks encoder can supply simultaneous position feedback to two separate systems from a single encoder. The hard-anodized metal housing, sealed connector, IS rating, dual bearings and shaft seals for NEMA 4 and 13 (IP65) ratings all add up to a very rugged encoder built to live in this harsh oil field environment. The dual output drawworks HS35 encoder can supply simultaneous position feedback to two separate systems from a single encoder. Since the connectors are mechanically parallel and electrically isolated, connecting to a second system and routing the cable is straightforward. Additionally, the outputs can even have different resolutions with use of interpolation. Now you can save the cost and space of a second encoder with a single installation. BEI Industrial Encoders (IED) is an operation of Custom Sensors & Technologies (CST). IED manufactures optical encoders and associated electronics for the industrial market. IED is the market-leading brand of encoders in North America. www.beiied.comAbout Custom Sensors & TechnologiesHeadquartered in Moorpark, Calif., Custom Sensors & Technologies (CST) is a business unit of Schneider Electric. CST was formed from the combination of Kavlico, Crouzet, Crydom and former divisions of BEI Technologies. CST provides sensors, controls and actuation products to the industrial, transportation, and military and aerospace markets. About Schneider Electric Schneider Electric is the world’s power and control specialist.
