Control Microsystems announces SCADASense 4203 Gas Flow Computer

Ottawa, Ontario, June 18, 2007 -- Control Microsystems announced the SCADASense 4203, a high accuracy, integrated gas flow computer incorporating multivariable sensor and complete SCADAPack PLC. The newest member of the SCADASense family of flow and pressure transmitters, the 4203 is designed for a wide variety of process control applications, including well head optimization, two- and three-phase separator measurement, and flow and pressure regulator stations. The system includes a compact, rugged multivariable sensor that provides 50% greater accuracy than competing RTUs, with differential and static pressure measurements to ±0.05%, and temperature to ±0.28°C. Unlike other devices which only support a single run, the 4203 can be coupled with a second multivariable transmitter to be used as a two-run gas flow computer. "The SCADASense 4203 provides an exceptional value in a packaged Electronic Flow Measurement solution," stated Dale Symington, Senior Vice President Engineering, Control Microsystems. "The internal PLC means more power and scalability available for user applications. Two flow runs can be updated every second. And a suite of powerful algorithms means the system can handle everything from simple chart recorder replacement to complex production optimization and control."Powerful Processing, Expanded I/OThe SCADASense 4203 is AGA-3, AGA-7, AGA-8, V-Cone, and API 21.2 compliant. The system includes a 32-bit SCADAPack PLC which significantly enhances calculation performance. A 95% reduction in single flow run AGA-8 calculation intervals means increased accuracy. In addition, two flow runs can be updated every second for greater control. Reduced power mode cuts power consumption by 50% and still updates two flow runs per second. The 4203 includes two discrete inputs for level, pulse, or turbine meter input. An optional analog output can be used to control drives and motors. Up to two analog inputs can be used to measure tubing and casing pressures. Two RS-232/485 serial ports support an additional SCADASense transmitter, remote I/O, radios, local displays, or other serial devices. When connected to other SCADAPack PLCs, the 4203 can take advantage of expanded I/O capabilities. The SCADASense 4203 uses the Modbus master/slave and Modbus EFM protocols as its native protocols. DNP 3.0 is available at no charge. Custom protocols can be easily implemented using the system's C++ programming tools.DeliveryThe SCADASense 4203 gas flow computer is marketed and supported throughout the world by Control Microsystems' expanded support network with offices across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific. It is immediately available for delivery.
