Memphis, Tenn. (November 14, 2007) In response to the growing demand for conductor termination in confined spaces, Thomas & Betts redesigned its line of Color-Keyed Narrow Tongue Lugs to feature an engineered width for a uniform connector dimension. Narrow Tongue Lugs also feature a standard barrel length to accommodate applications in limited spaces. The redesigned Narrow Tongue Lugs enable the termination of conductors into confined spaces for applications that include molded case circuit breakers; motor controls, such as starters; safety switches; and other panel or control components, said Jerry Woodward, senior product manager for Thomas & Betts. Narrow Tongue Lugs are made of high-conductivity, seamless electrolytic wrought copper tubing that is electro-plated with tin to prevent corrosion. Other features include a double-chamfered barrel to facilitate the safe insertion of conductors into the lug and color-coding to ensure the correct matching of lugs to die sets, the correct number and location of crimps for installation, and the proper inspection and verification of connections. Constructed to offer high mechanical strength, Narrow Tongue Lugs are UL and CSA listed.
