Calex introduces Convir Pyropen handheld IR thermometer

April 5, 2007 - The Convir Pyropen series from Calex Electronics is a range of handheld infrared thermometers, designed to fit in the pocket, just like a pen! Despite their small size the Pyropens offer cutting edge performance with specifications that put many of their larger, more expensive, competitors in the shade. The Pyropens can measure temperatures from -20ºC to 500ºC (-4ºF to 932ºF), and measurements are made with an outstanding accuracy of up to ±1ºC (±2ºF). This is well beyond the reach of most units in this price bracket, and allows the Pyropen models to be used in high accuracy applications, like food safety, with confidence. All models in the Pyropen series have a narrow 8:1 field of view and measure in a well defined 8 to 14µm band, eliminating interference from the atmosphere that can hamper lesser instruments. Laser sighting is available, as is adjustable emissivity, enabling most materials to be measured. The Pyropen D model offers twelve point internal data storage and has PC interface. It is supplied with CalexLog software which has data logging and graph plotting functions. Stored measurement values can be exported for use in spreadsheets or other data analysis programs. As well as providing instantaneous measurements, Pyropens can also give maximum, minimum and average readings. They can be locked into the ON position if continuous measurements are required. They also hold the last reading for seven seconds once the button is released for situations where it is not easy to see the display while readings are being taken.
