Affordable Power Protection with Ferraz Fusible and Non-Fusible DisconnectsAutomationDirect has added 600 VAC / 250 VDC heavy-duty fusible and non-fusible disconnects from Ferraz Shawmut to our list of circuit protection products. Meeting UL98 standards, the SIRCO and FUSERBLOC series are designed with the latest disconnect technology available, “make and break” power circuits on load, and are UL, CSA, CE and IEC rated. A wide array of handles is available for OSHA padlocking requirements, NEMA configurations, defeater options and NFPA 79 requirements. SIRCO series non-fusible disconnects start at $57.00 and the FUSERBLOC series of fusible disconnects and accessories start at $85.00.SIRCO Series Non-Fusible DisconnectsThe SIRCO disconnect switches have been tested and approved for use in the most demanding applications, like “service entrance” and main panel disconnects. These heavy duty SIRCO switches are available in 30-800 amp ratings. Switches up to 400 amps are equipped with visible blade contacts. The available defeatable pistol handles automatically re-latch when the panel door is closed, eliminating the need for tools to reset the latch.SIRCO Series non-fusible disconnect prices start at $57.00 (SCV30)Features:

  • 600 VAC, 250 VDC
  • 30, 60, 100, 200, 400, 600, and 800 amperes
  • Service entrance rated, Compact footprints, Front operated switches
  • Visible blade contacts up to 400A
  • Defeatable pistol handles automatically re-latch when panel door is closed - no tool necessary to reset latch
  • External or direct operation handles
FUSERBLOC Series Fusible DisconnectsThe FUSERBLOC series of fusible disconnects use double break contacts per pole, up to 200 amp isolating the fuse while the switch is in the OFF position. To reduce or eliminate the danger of accidental contact with live, energized parts, these fusible disconnects are supplied with fuse covers and line side shrouding as a standard safety feature. Used with class CC or J fuses from AutomationDirect, the FUSERBLOC switches are an excellent source of circuit protection. FUSERBLOC Series fusible disconnects start at $85.00 (FBCC30CDT )Features:
  • 600 VAC, 250 VDC
  • 30, 60, 100 and 200 Amperes
  • Double break contacts per pole up to 200 A
  • Touch-safe fuse covers and line shrouding standard
  • Service entrance rated, Compact footprints, Front operated switches
  • Defeatable pistol handles automatically re-latch when panel door is closed - no tool necessary to reset latch
  • External or direct operation handles
Standards and RatingsNFPA79 standardThese electrical disconnect switches fully comply with the following requirements of the NFPA79 standard*:
  • Isolate the electrical equipment from the supply circuit and have one “OFF” (open) and one “ON” (closed) position only
  • Have an external operating means
  • Be provided with a permanent means permitting it to be locked in the “OFF” (open) position only independent of door position
  • Be operable, by qualified persons, independent of the door position without the use of accessory tools or devices
All disconnect switch contacts work independently of the speed and force of the operator providing better electrical characteristics.Switches up to 400 amps use silver-tipped contacts technology providing the following advantages:
  • Best solution for harsh environments
  • High on-load break characteristics
  • Longer mechanical and electrical life
  • Maintenance free switches without grease
Switches above 400 amp use a self cleaning moving technology allowing high short-circuit withstand. IEC 947-3 standardPositive opening operation safeguards users in the case of welded contacts due to an overload or short circuit. The handle cannot reach the “OFF” position unless the contacts are truly open. According to the IEC 947-3 standard**, if the contacts are welded due to an overload or short-circuit:
  • the switch will not reach the “OFF” position
  • and cannot be padlocked in this position as long as operating force applied to the operating mechanism is less then three times the standard operating force.
The unusual operation alerts the user that a problem has occurred. * NFPA-79 is the section of the National Electric Code (NEC) that focuses on the electrical wiring standards used with industrial machinery. NFPA-79 applies to the electrical equipment used within a wide variety of machines as well as groups of machines working together in a coordinated manner. Examples of industrial machinery include, among others: machine tools, injection molding machines, woodworking equipment, assembly machinery, material handling machinery and inspection and testing machines. The scope of NFPA-79 includes all electrical and electronic elements of the machinery operating at 600V or less. ** IEC 947-3 International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) - Switches, disconnectors, switch disconnectors and fused combination units.AutomationDirect offers thousands of industrial automation products through its Online Superstore and 1,900-page catalog.
