DiProPAC 32 Provides Enhanced Die Monitoring for SmartPAC 2 ACTON, MA, December 8, 2006 – Honeywell (NYSE:HON) Wintriss today introduced DiProPAC 32, a die protection module for the SmartPAC 2 press automation control that provides inputs for up to thirty-two sensors. An 8-sensor module is also available.DiProPAC 32 gives customers increased flexibility in installing die protection sensors, particularly in applications where many sensors are needed to monitor a single process. “DiProPAC 32 enables our customers to install the extra sensors they need to protect their tooling investment and ensure part quality in an increasingly sophisticated stamping market,” said Dick LaBelle, sales manager, Honeywell Wintriss. “By offering a more robust DiProPAC module, we are keeping abreast of our customers’ evolving die protection requirements and maintaining our leadership in die protection technology.” The additional sixteen sensors provided by DiProPAC 32 (i.e., sensors 17-32) are particularly suited to applications where multiple sensors share the same settings. Each of the extra sensors can be programmed identically to a selected sensor among the first sixteen. In a multi-station transfer application, for example, the customer can program and set timing for one of the first sixteen sensors, then “link” the required number of sensors in the “extra” group to that sensor’s programming. Each of the linked sensors behaves just like the programmed sensor, and when the programmed sensor is fine-tuned, all linked sensors automatically adjust to the new setting. Like the DiProPAC 8 and DiProPAC 16 modules, DiProPAC 32 generates a detailed message whenever a sensor fault occurs, providing the name of the sensor, the sensor type, the nature of the fault (early, late, missed, etc.), and the angle at which the fault occurred. These fault messages enable customers to focus their time and effort on troubleshooting the die rather than searching for the faulted sensor. Honeywell provides a broad portfolio of Wintriss automation and safety products to the metal stamping and forming industry. The product range includes laser guarding systems for hydraulic press-brakes, light curtains, clutch/brake controls, die protection systems, load analyzers, in-die quality control systems and production reporting software.
