ifm efector introduces M18 and DIN-rail mountable speed monitors

EXTON, PA – February 5, 2007 – ifm efector inc. introduces a new line of speed monitors that suit a variety of industrial automation applications. ifm’s programmable M18 compact speed monitor is designed for rotational speed applications up to 18,000 pulses per minute. The unit offers a pulse output for monitoring revolutions per minute and a switching output that indicates under-speed and over-speed conditions. The 4-wire DC speed monitor provides a 12mm non-flush sensing range with a three-LED status display for power, switching and input pulses. M18 speed monitors are suitable for simple under-speed monitoring applications such as belt conveyors, screw conveyors, pumps, turbines, blockage on bucket elevators, exhaust fans, and blowers in ventilation systems. As over-speed monitors, they perform in applications such as wind power systems or load monitoring on hoists. ifm efector’s line of DIN-rail mountable speed monitors evaluate pulse frequency, rotational speed, linear speed, and machine cycles. The speed monitor receives an external pulse train from a single position sensor for speed evaluation and features programmable setup, status LEDs, and a 7-segment display. Other DIN-rail units can be used in applications such as direction, slip, and synchronous detection. Slip and synchronous monitoring protects hoists from misalignment, and conveyor belts and slipping clutches from wear and destruction. Direction monitoring signals wrong direction of rotation, e.g. of twin pumps. An integrated frequency-to-current converter changes pulse sequences into analog signals, 0 /4...20 mA or 0...10 V. DIN-rail mountable speed monitors have an operating voltage of 100-240 AC/DC or 24 VDC.ifm speed monitors are cULus approved for the North American market. ifm efector inc. is a premier technology partner for sensors and controls. Products include proximity switches, photoelectric sensors, fiber optics, condition monitors, speed monitors, pressure sensors, flow sensors, temperature sensors, level sensors, valve position sensors, mobile control solutions, ID systems, AS-i networking and Safety at Work products.
