Houston, Oct. 23, 2006 – AE Solutions and Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. have developed a new generation of fire & gas alarm and suppression systems. The pre-engineered, pre-configured, and pre-packaged FGS 1400 Fire & Gas System is FM approved and complies with NFPA 72 standards. “The FGS 1400 was developed around Siemens SIMATIC® S7-400FH safety system – the ideal logic platform for fire & gas systems,” says Charles Fialkowski, manager of Process Safety Systems for Siemens Energy & Automation. “The safety system incorporates special field-wiring diagnostics, critical in fire & gas systems, including line monitoring and ground fault detection. The system also simplifies software configuration and visualization with Siemens SIMATIC Safety Matrix cause and effect programming tool.”The FGS 1400 offers tightly integrated distributed control with Siemens SIMATIC PCS 7 process control system, providing common engineering tools, HMI, and communication infrastructure throughout the plant. “This approach to fire and gas offers the security of a purpose built, proprietary fire alarm system, but with the openness and flexibility of modern control systems,” says Brian Merriman, president of AE Solutions. Every FGS 1400 has a secondary power supply system as required by NFPA 72, including a battery set and a charger system. The batteries and charger of each installation are engineered for compliance with NFPA 72 capacity and recharge requirements. In addition, full field wiring diagnostics are provided in accordance with NFPA 72 to detect open circuits, short circuits, and ground faults. The system is offered with a variety of I/O modules.About AE Solutions:AE Solutions is an industry-leading systems integrator providing complete system design, configuration and validation services for automation and control system platforms.
