Amphenol announces IP67 Ring Ethernet Switch

With this incredibly rugged ‘plug and play’ switch, it’s easy to set up redundancy rings with a reconfiguration time of 30ms.The RJ-Switch Ring is an ethernet plug and play switch with a great performance/cost ratio.August 1, 2006 - The Switch Ring is extremely rugged and IP67 waterproof, has a solid re-inforced casing, an operating temperature range of –40°C to 75°C and redundant power supply with efficient protection against surges and spikes. The switch therefore allows for an MTBF of 1,000,000 hours; the highest reliability level on the market.Economical and simple to install, it is nevertheless administrable. Available administration functions include port mirroring for traffic diagnostics, configuration of the port and management of traffic priorities (QoS and CoS). This management guarantees data transmission in real time and increases network performance. Priority tasks can be configured by the user. The Switch Ring permits a particularly quick reconfiguration time for the redundancy rings: 30 ms + 5 ms per hop. This characteristic is what distinguishes the Switch Ring from other Ethernet switches on the market. The E/S interfaces are part of the RJ FIELD series whose quick and patented RJ stop connection system turn any standard RJ45 into a rugged IP67 reinforced interface protected from shocks, dust and fluids. The Switch Ring adapts itself to interior and exterior applications such as automation of production lines, robotics, industrial process controls, transport and data acquisition and transmission.
