The CPU supports communication to the PROFIBUS DP V1 standard, allowing integration of distributed devices from Siemens or other manufacturers. It also offers support of the PROFINET standard, which is the multi-vendor Industrial Ethernet standard for automation. PROFINET offers integrated realtime communication which, in addition to peer communication between controllers, enables the connection of field devices over Ethernet.
