The introduction of the SIMATIC Microbox PC 420 industrial PC offers a compact, robust and adaptable PC solution. It reliably handles measuring as well as open-loop and closed-loop control tasks in an industrial environment. The SIMATIC Microbox PC 420 is designed to withstand high temperatures, vibrations and shock, while meeting increased EMC requirements. DIN-rail or panel-mountable with a compact size of 262 x 132 millimeters, it fits neatly in control cabinets and directly on machinery. This new industrial PC can operate for long periods in ambient temperatures up to 50°C without a fan. Its power supply offers electrical isolation, as well as secure data buffering during power loss. With a battery-backed SRAM, production data can be securely stored on the PC. The design is virtually maintenance free - components such as PC/104-PLUS modules, battery or DRAM can be replaced without having to remove the PC.The Microbox PC 420 is available with scalable Celeron or Intel Pentium III processors, with planned implementation of Pentium M processors. The operating system is available on an optional 40GB hard drive or Compact flash cards as bootable medium. The Compact Flash card is accessible from the outside, ensuring high system maintainability to minimize downtimes.
