Smart, Compact Electromechanical Actuators Improve Productivity and Space Efficiency for Industrial AGVs
- by Chad Carlberg
Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) can improve industrial productivity by 50 to 70 percent but require adequate room to move about increasingly space-constrained factory floors.
Wurth Electronics ICS, Inc., is celebrating its 10th anniversary as well as its move to a new site with twice the production space as the old facility.
Mobile robot systems equipped with inductive charging technology.
GECOM is considering extending the AGV fleet to replace manual tuggers used to bring raw components to the assembly line.
Waypoint Robotics and AHS announce a new systems integrator partnership. AHS will offer Waypoint’s full fleet of industrial-strength, omnidirectional AMRs to its valued customer base as part of a fully integrated automated material handling solution.

Though predicted years ago, COVID-19 has made autonomous forklifts an immediate reality for small footprint manufacturing facilities.
Companies considering AMRs for their manufacturing, warehouse or other e-commerce-related distribution applications can virtually visit the test facility now—with the facility opening for onsite visits following Massachusetts’ phased re-opening guidelines—to see how the AMRs would work in their own facilities.
Out of these 69 applications, the most promising 20 experiments have now been selected. In Phase I of ESMERA, proving their concept, they get funding of up to 75.000 Euros each as well as technical support and business mentoring by the ESMERA consortium.
The initial mission will measure challenging portions of the Dutch Wadden Sea.
