3rd Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit to be held at HANNOVER MESSE 2020

July 11, 2019 -The Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit will stage its third edition from 20 to 21 April 2020 at HANNOVER MESSE in Hannover, Germany. For 2020, the core theme is promoting global adoption of modern manufacturing technologies and standards to improve sustainability.
H.E. Eng. Suhail Mohamed Faraj Al Mazrouei, United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of Energy & Industry, and LI Yong, Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), made the announcement at the closing ceremony of the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit 2019 in Yekaterinburg, Russia. Dr. Stefan Keil, General Consul of the Consulate of Germany in Yekaterinburg, accepted the handover on behalf of the German Government.
A joint initiative of the UAE and UNIDO, the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit is a cross-industry and cross-functional platform that unites manufacturers, governments and non-governmental organizations, technologists, and investors to harness Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies to shape the future of manufacturing and build more prosperous and sustainable industrial enterprises and societies in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
At both its premier in Abu Dhabi and in Yekaterinburg this year, the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit attracted more than 3,000 leaders from government, business and civic organizations. Partners include Mubadala Investment Company, Siemens, General Electric, IBM, Honeywell, Solvay, Rockwell Automation, PwC, K&L Gates, and Tawazun.
"The German industrial sector is one of the cornerstones of the German economy and it has a leading position on the global stage," said Peter Altmaier, Germany's Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy. "With our clear leadership in developing Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies and the development of effective strategies for its adoption in all aspects of life, Germany is proud to host the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit in 2020 and to welcome the world to a global gathering that will contribute to shaping a comprehensive and sustainable course for the manufacturing sector to achieve economic and social prosperity across the world."
H.E. Eng. Suhail Mohamed Faraj Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy & Industry, said, "2020 will mark a new era of cooperation between the UAE and Germany as part of our shared vision for positioning the industrial sector as a key driver for economic prosperity, and in employing Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies to further enhance economic cooperation and to connect innovators, small and medium-sized enterprises and large industrial conglomerates beyond geographical and physical barriers, thereby establishing cross-border digital partnerships."
LI Yong, Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, said, "The Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit 2020 in Germany is a defining moment in the Summit's journey as the three partners – the UAE, Germany and UNIDO – join forces to support the achievement of SDG 9, which aims to build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation. This partnership intensifies our efforts and builds on our shared vision for inclusive and sustainable industrial development globally."
Dr. Jochen Köckler, Chairman of the Managing Board, Deutsche Messe AG, added, "Manufacturing is a big part of the global economy, not only as a generator of capital, but also as an important source of jobs and taxes. Digitalization and globalization, however, are challenging manufacturers to adapt at an increasingly rapid pace. We are pleased to welcome the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit to HANNOVER MESSE in 2020, because it addresses exactly these topics."
