Automation Knowledge Event - Industrial Automation North America

By Bill Lydon, Editor

After a successful debut in 2012, Industrial Automation North America (NA) is coming back to Chicago. Industrial Automation NA is co-located with the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS). The shows will welcome visitors at McCormick Place on September 8-13, 2014. As an added bonus, this year Industrial Automation NA will feature the inaugural Motion, Drive & Automation North America (MDA North America).

Industrial Automation NA and MDA North America will provide visitors with an opportunity to learn about the latest manufacturing technology. Visitors will be able to see the latest production and solutions for production automation. This one-stop opportunity to see the latest innovations also features conferences and educational training.

In 2012, Deutsche Messe partnered with the Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT) to add the automation-focused Industrial Automation NA element to IMTS.  With more than double the space this year, Industrial Automation NA and MDA North America will occupy the Lakeside Center.

Industrial Automation North America

A wide range of vendors will display their factory, process, and building automation solutions. Exhibitors and attendees can network at the variety of conferences, workshops, and training sessions. Industrial Automation NA offers a great opportunity to discuss pressing issues and the latest trends.

Motion, Drive & Automation North America

MDA North America provides information and knowledge-sharing to achieve greater manufacturing efficiency. Visitors can see new, faster, and more responsive mechanical interfaces and devices.  MDA North America showcases electrical, mechanical power transmission, fluid power (hydraulics), pneumatics, and control technologies. MDA North America’s mission is to be the hub of North America's power transmission, motion control, and fluid technology.

IMTS Pavilions

IMTS features pavilions focused on specific machine capabilities and services from suppliers, including:

Abrasive Machining/Sawing/Finishing

See the latest grinding, sawing, cut-off, finishing, lapping, balancing, honing, and polishing machines and technology.

Controls & CAD-CAM

This includes the latest custom automation software, CIM/CAD/CAM systems, CNC controls, automation management systems, communications systems, software development systems and services, instruments, controls, and systems integration services.

Electric Discharge Machining (EDM)

This is the latest CNC wire EDM, EDM filtration systems and supplies, ram EDM, wire EDM, metal disintegrators, and die-sinking machines.

Gear Generation

This includes the latest gear hobbers, gear shapers, gear cutters, gear shavers, broaching equipment, gear-grinding equipment, and gear-measuring equipment.

Machine Components/Cleaning/Environmental

See the latest air purification, safety guards, mats and equipment, filtration equipment, noise control equipment, dust removers, conveyors, AGVs, coatings, robotics, assembly/test equipment, and motion control and environmental management software.

Metal Cutting

This includes the latest technologies for metal-cutting equipment, machining centers, turning centers, drilling, boring, milling, screw machines, transfer machines, multiple spindle drills, Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS), and more.

See the latest technology in fabrication, water jet, laser machining, and additive manufacturing. The new additive manufacturing section provides the latest view of machines, materials, and processes in this exciting new technology.

Quality Assurance

This includes the latest in metrology equipment and systems to keep your processes on track and find absolute confidence and security in the quality of your output. Exhibitors will demonstrate a wide range of solutions, including laser measurement machines, precision gaging, automated gaging, in-process gaging, tool condition monitoring, measurement software, and vision systems.

Tooling & Workholding Systems

Maximize the investment in machinery and equipment with the latest technology that will allow for minimal setup and machining time.

There is a great deal of discussion about companies not maximizing efficiency and productivity.  Manufacturing departments tend to operate in separate silos and do not communicate. This event allows companies to identify new manufacturing automation methods.  By implementing these methods, companies can become more competitive.
