James Merlo, senior director of the Reliability Risk Management Group at the North American Reliability Corporation (NERC), will give the keynote speech about “Improving Human Performance on the Grid.”

Other workshops will include:
• HEMP/IEMI Protection for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Facilities, presented by Michael A. Caruso, independent consultant and formerly with ETS-Lindgren
• Domestic Trends in Power Systems, presented by Phil Jennings, manager of customer solutions at Smart Wires
• International Trends in Power Systems – VHPready, presented by Eike Wedekin, Phoenix Contact GmbH, and Abilash Appanvel, Phoenix Contact USA
• Panel Discussion: Technical Change Management in the Utility Culture, moderated by Eric Easton, substation engineering manager for CenterPoint Energy

The forum will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2, and end at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The event includes a social hour and dinner on Monday evening, and a boxed lunch is available prior to departure on Tuesday. Refreshments will be provided during breaks.
