OSI to supply SCADA/DMS to Hydro-Sherbrooke
May 15, 2014 - Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has been awarded a contract by The City of Sherbrooke for their municipal electric distribution service (Hydro-Sherbrooke) to implement a new advanced SCADA/DMS. Hydro-Sherbrooke has been a leader in the use of modeling and analysis in their distribution operations and selected OSI’s DMS technology as a modern real time smart grid platform for their current and future needs.
Hydro-Sherbrooke is the largest municipal electricity distributor in Québec serving over 80,000 customers. Hydro-Sherbrooke owns and manages nine hydroelectric generating stations and three major distribution substations. The City of Sherbrooke is also a member of the Association of Electricity redistributors of Québec (AREQ), which includes nine municipal electricity networks and electricity cooperatives.
"Hydro-Sherbrooke has been modeling their distribution network and putting DMS applications, such as load flow and short circuit, into real operational use for years," said Hormoz Kazemzadeh, Vice President of Distribution and Smart Grid at OSI. "We are very proud to have been selected by Hydro-Sherbrooke to continue their strong engineering tradition and provide our advanced DMS as a modern platform to take their distribution operations into the future."
OSI’s Spectra DMS provides Hydro-Sherbrooke with integrated capabilities built on OSI’s monarch Smart Grid Platform. The advanced functionality presented by OSI’s solution includes the next-generation, .NET based Graphical User Interface (GUI); Advanced SCADA; Alarm Management; Trending; and Historical Information System; as well as Distribution Network Operating Map; Distribution Power Flow; Volt/VAR Control; Fault Location, Isolation and Service Restoration; Feeder Reconfiguration; Fault Protection Analysis; Short Term Load Forecast; Switching Order Management and Voyager, OSI’s Web-Based and mobile User Interface.
OSI provides open, state-of-the-art and high-performance automation solutions to utilities worldwide. These solutions include Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, Network Management Systems (NMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), Distribution Management Systems (DMS), Outage Management Systems (OMS), Generation Management Systems (GMS), Substation Automation Systems (SA); Data Warehousing and Historians, as well as individual software and hardware products and Smart Grid solutions for utility operations.
