CADENAS announces start of Engineering Newcomer design competition

March 6, 2019 - The Engineering Newcomer design competition starts its sixth round. CADENAS GmbH, together with partners of norelem Normelemente KG, Bundesarbeitskreis Fachschule für Technik and MDESIGN Vertriebs GmbH, is once again in search of the best projects in engineering and design among pupils and students. The young inventors, from technical disciplines of universities and technical colleges, have the opportunity up to 31 July 2019 to participate in the Engineering Newcomer 2019 with their project designs created within their study work. Cash prizes are awaiting pupils and students as well as their educational institutions. And for the first time, the participants can present their product ideas to investors in the framework of the design competition and bring them on board through a pitch with a view for possible implementation later on.
All that's needed to participate is a created project or a thesis in the area of engineering and development, in the framework of one's study or training. The work will be evaluated by an expert jury according to the following aspects, among others:
- How interesting and original is the design?
- How high is its value in use or technological benefit?
- Is the desired function in the design realized and how can it be technically implemented?
The Engineering Newcomer competition is an opportunity for pupils and students to achieve a high level of attention for their own engineering project and to obtain an award that will boost career opportunities for their future professional life. The design competition also offers prize money for participating students and pupils as well as their schools or colleges. First place winners and their schools will receive 2,000 euros, 1,000 euros for each second place winner and the third place winners will each be awarded 500 euros. The winning schools will also receive the Engineering Newcomer Seal in gold, silver and bronze, which they can then place in an attractive way on their own website.
The so-called eternal list of the Engineering Newcomer competition shows the most creative of engineering schools: Continuously since the begin of the competition, all the participating schools have collected points for their contributions and wins. In 2018, the Technikerschule München ranked first place with a total of 39 points, followed by the Fachschule für Technik Mühlhausen with 18 points in second place.
