ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute Certifies Three Yokogawa Products

June 10, 2015 - The ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute announced that Yokogawa Electric Corporation released three products that have all successfully achieved ISA100 Wireless certification. The ISA100 Wireless certification provides assurance that the devices will interoperate in any ISA100 Wireless compliant network.

The FN110 Field Wireless Communication Module includes an ISA100 Wireless protocol stack and is the most recent ISA100 Wireless Compliant stack to be certified.  The high-performance, built-in wireless communication module is compact, lightweight and offers excellent radio sensitivity with low power consumption. The FN110 communication module can be combined with the FN310 or the FN510 to form field wireless devices connectable to an ISA100 Wireless network.

The FN310 Field Wireless Multi-protocol Module is a protocol converter that enables wired communication protocols (HART, MODBUS, and more) to be transmitted through ISA100 Wireless networks. The FN310 comes with built in batteries, eliminating the need for cables and providing installation flexibility that would have otherwise been cost prohibitive.

The FN510 Field Wireless Multi-Function Module transmits multiple types of sensor signals from wired devices through ISA100 Wireless networks. The FN510 Multi-Function module supports multiple forms of inputs and outputs, including analog input, digital input, digital output, and pulse input, enabling wired legacy sensors to participate in an ISA100 Wireless network. The FN510 internal battery eliminates the need for cables and provides installation flexibility that would have otherwise been cost prohibitive.

“These two adaptor modules allow end-users to extend coverage of legacy wired field devices and provide access to stranded data,” remarked Andre Ristaino, Managing Director of ISA100 WCI, “and the FN110 Communication Module is an ingenious all-in-one communication stack/antennae combination which accelerates wireless enablement of existing field devices, an elegant solution that was a key factor in Yokogawa’s 2014 Frost and Sullivan award for Enabling Technology Leadership.”

About ISA100 Wireless
ISA100 Wireless (IEC 62734) is an international, industrial wireless networking and communications standard engineered to serve the needs of process industries. With native IPv6 networking and object architecture, ISA100 Wireless extends the Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) to wireless.  End users can select ISA100 Wireless Compliant devices from a best-of-breed pool of suppliers with assurances of device interoperability. ISA100 Wireless enables automation engineers to quickly create, modify, optimize, and scale wireless networks that are open, interoperable, and reliable for their most critical applications. ISA100 Wireless is the first standard in the ISA100 family of open standards.

Built from the ground up and driven by user requirements, the ISA100 Wireless standard received formal ANSI approval in January 2012 and approval as IEC 62734 in September 2014.  ISA100 Wireless is the only IPv6, 6LowPAN industrial protocol designed for industrial automation.  ISA100 Wireless meets requirements of ETSI EN 300 328 v1.8.1 for coexistence with nearby 2.4 GHz radio devices.

About the ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute
The ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute (ISA100 WCI) is a non-profit industry organization that provides users and developers with market awareness, educational information, technical support, and compliance testing for the ISA100 family of standards. ISA100 WCI provides real-world feedback from the deployment of ISA100 Wireless devices and systems to ISA Standards Committees, fostering rapid refinement to the standards.
