Phoenix Contact mGuard obtains Class I, Division 2 approval

April 10, 2014 -  Phoenix Contact’s FL mGuard RS2000 and RS4000 family of security and connectivity devices now has Class I, Division 2 approval. This approval means that the mGuard appliances can now be used to protect and connect industrial networks in many hazardous locations. These locations can include oil refineries, offshore platforms, wastewater treatment facilities and many others.

The FL mGuard family of products is built around security. IT-friendly features such as an industrial firewall for traffic filtering, auditing and logging capabilities, anti-malware and other facets important to network security ensure network protection. Additionally, the mGuard routing capabilities allow for seamless connection to IT or enterprise networks.

The optional virtual private network (VPN) can create a secure remote connection over the Internet. This enables communication from a technician or central plant to remote equipment, end customer sites, etc.
