AVEVA to supply 3D modelling to Russian water company
September 18, 2014 - Vodokanal Engineering, a provider of water supply and wastewater projects in Russia, chose AVEVA PDMS as its 3D design modelling solution. AVEVA PDMS will provide much greater design efficiency while allowing Vodokanal to meet the increasingly high standards demanded by key clients.
‘AVEVA technologies are advanced and powerful,’ said Alexander Terentyev, Chief Engineering Officer, Vodokanal-Engineering. “Our custom-ers’ design standards are getting increasingly more sophisticated which was a problem for our current software. One such client is KINEF LLC, which operates the largest oil refinery in North-West Russia. As part of its project management framework, KINEF encourages its contractors to invest in the most advanced technologies to create more efficient project deliverables. This is particularly true for projects involving 3D design and modelling software, where AVEVA’s PDMS solution has long been the industry standard.
‘In the past, we were never required to check the model for clashes, to issue intelligent deliverables or to create a powerful digital asset for ongoing real-time collaboration with the operator. This is rapidly changing. Our clients now have ever more complex projects with de-manding engineering requirements and we recognise the need for more advanced 3D design technology. Given KINEF’s decision to use AVEVA solutions, we were both confident and impressed enough to implement PDMS ourselves; not just for this client but across our entire project portfolio. Interoperability, flexibility and collaboration are important to our business and AVEVA technology will help us meet project challenges for years to come.’
Dmitry Smeltsov, Vice President for Sales, AVEVA, Russia, commented: ‘We have finally reached the point when operators and their engineering contractors work together in a more collaborative and effective manner. AVEVA has long been a proponent of solutions that support collaboration across the entire life cycle of major projects. We are always pleased to see the success that our software and support brings both to operators and to their contractors. This particular example is becoming more and more common. Operators are now ready to openly share their needs with engineering contractors in order to ensure the long term, efficient operation of their assets. It’s a real step towards reducing risk and boosting efficiency for all parties.’
