The machine comprises a large number of extremely precise movements which operate fully automatically, so that a single operator can control six to eight machines at once. The yarn is fed continuously into the machine. Out of the other end comes a strip of finished socks, which only need to be separated along a parting line and stitched together at the toe. It takes only 4 1/2 minutes to make a men's sports sock.
