OSI to supply EMS to Kansas City Power & Light
July 21, 2014 - Open Systems International (OSI) has been awarded a contract by Kansas City Power & Light (KCP&L) to implement an Energy Management System (EMS) based on OSI’s monarch platform.
KCP&L is an investor-owned, regulated utility that serves more than 800,000 customers in 47 northwest Missouri and eastern Kansas counties, with a service area of about 18,000 square miles, 3,000 miles of transmission lines, 24,000 miles of distribution lines and more than 400 substations.
This EMS system is based on OSI’s monarch (Multi-platform Open Network ARCHitecture) platform and includes OSI’s next-generation, .NET based Graphical User Interface, large scale SCADA functionality, Generation Management System applications, Transmission Management applications including Advanced Transmission Security Monitoring Analysis functionality, Operator Training Simulator, Interfaces to the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) Market Operator, interfaces to Oracle Outage Management System, etc. The project has an aggressive timeline, with implementation targeted for second quarter 2015.
