Emerson Releases Upgrade of Process Simulation Software Used With PlantWeb
AUSTIN, TEXAS. (April 2, 2003) - Increasing the power and value of process simulation with its PlantWeb digital plant architecture, Emerson Process Management is offering an upgrade to migrate existing SIMVOX users to the award winning Mimic v2.6 simulation software. All simulations developed under SIMVOX will run on Mimic. This applies to both Windows NT and VMS versions of SIMVOX.
"This upgrade offer enables SIMVOX customers to switch to the next generation of process simulation software," said Duncan Schleiss, vice president of marketing for the process systems business of Emerson Process Management. "The upgrade provides a migration path from the mature SIMVOX product, and protects users' process simulation investments. With the new Mimic software, users will be able to make more realistic process models faster and easier than ever before." Simulation software from Emerson was chosen as the industries' best by readers of Control magazine in the 2003 Reader's Choice Awards. Mimic v2.6 fully supports the same PROVOX and RS3 software driver packs as SIMVOX. Mimic was developed in conjunction with Mynah technologies.
SIMVOX users that choose to upgrade will receive the following new features:
- Larger Overall System Size
- Up to 1000 discrete & analog tiebacks
- Up to 4500 Modeling Tags per port
- Up to 32 ports/configuration
New Digital Bus Simulation
- View and set FOUNDATION fieldbus signal status bits
- View and set Profibus and Device Net Device parameters
- Signal Auto Ramping capabilities for digital bus analog Inputs
Ease of Use
- Universal engineering units - never do a unit conversion
- Auto setup of OPC Interfaces
- Automatic database documentation
- Database audit trail
- Generate simulations for more DeltaV configuration types
Operator Training Tools
- Run scenarios in parallel, sequential, or manual modes
- New scenario debug tools
"We've provided this upgrade path to protect our customers' current investments and provide them with significant additional benefits," said Martin Berutti, director, business development at Mynah Technologies. "The new Mimic product does everything SIMVOX does and much more. And, users will find the conversion from SIMVOX to Mimic both fast and easy." The SIMVOX product will no longer be enhanced, but will be replaced by Mimic.
