April 23, 2014 - Addonics Technologies announced a family of 2.5” flash drive kits that allow users to easily replace 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch hard drives in notebook PCs or other systems with the three most popular types of flash cards.

Models include the 2.5" M2 (NGFF) SSD Drive, which allows uses M2 (NGFF)SSD cards, in the form factor of 30, 42, 60 or 80 mm length, as a direct replacement for a 2.5" SATA hard drive; the 2.5" mSATA Flash drive, which uses the popular mSATA SSD to replace SATA hard drives; and the 2.5" IDE mSATA Flash drive, which replaces a 2.5" IDE hard drive with a low power and shock resistant mSATA SSD.  The two SATA models are made with components that support operations in industrial temperature range. By using industrial type flash cards, these two SATA models can be deployed in harsh industrial operating environments.

The Addonics 2.5’’ M2 NGFF(Next Generation Form Factor) Flash drive kit is a simple and economical solution to replace a mechanical hard drive with a low power, shock resistant and high performance M2 solid state drive.  The M2 form factor SSDs are smaller, lighter, and consume less power. They can maximize performance in mobile devices when used as a cache drive (in tandem with a HDD).  They also offer enough storage space to load an operating system and thus can be used as a bootable drive for embedded applications, ultrabooks, and next generation notebooks.

All Addonics 2.5” Flash Drives come with a converter board mounted inside a light weight and durable aluminum frame with dimensions and mounting holes to mimic a 9 mm 2.5” SATA hard drive. The user only needs to mount the preferred flash SSD onto the adapter in the drive. This makes for easy conversion of older hard drives to SSD, and allows users to utilize the latest flash media from several suppliers.
