Cogent adds Modbus TCP Support to DataHub software

February 23, 2015 - Cogent Real-Time Systems adds Modbus to Version 7.3.6 of DataHub secure real-time data access and integration software for networked industrial systems. Modbus allows DataHub to connect to any Modbus slave over Modbus TCP. Fully integrating Modbus into the Cogent DataHub means that data from any device on a Modbus TCP network can be viewed on the web, logged to a database, connected to an Excel spreadsheet, or made available to virtually any location across the Internet of Things (IoT) through the Secure Cloud Service from Cogent's parent company, Skkynet Cloud Systems.

The Cogent DataHub provides quick, reliable, and secure access to valuable information direct from industrial processes or embedded systems. DataHub WebView is a web HMI that allows users to access data from anywhere on the Internet. The Secure Cloud System from Skkynet connects to the Cogent DataHub, and allows industrial and embedded systems to securely network live data in real time over the IoT.

Key Modbus features supported by the Cogent DataHub include:

  • Unlimited connections to slave devices
  • Automatic connection re-try with configurable delay
  • Automatic message size optimization
  • User-configurable options on a per-slave basis, including host name / IP address and port; automatic IPV6 connection with fallback to IPV4
  • Polling rates from 10 ms
  • Flexible data point configuration, including 16, 32, or 64-bit signed and unsigned integer input and output
  • 32- and 64-bit floating point input and output in any byte order
  • ASCII, UTF-8 and UTF-16 strings.
