September 17, 2015 – Divelbiss introduces VB-2XXX OEM controllers based on P-Series PLC on a Chip technology. The VB-2XXX family is Cloud Communications enabled with the VersaCloud M2M platform. Programmed using the no-cost EZ Ladder Toolkit in Ladder Diagram, Function Block, and Structured Text, the VB-2XXX family provides maximum flexibility for interfacing to and controlling equipment, communicating with various serial bus protocols, logging system data, or adding Internet of Things (IoT) and Telematics capability to existing systems.

Featuring open-board construction, the VB-2XXX is mounted using industry standard DIN rail and has a high I/O count with 12 digital inputs, 3 high speed counter inputs, 8 digital outputs rated for 2A each (which are all PWM capable), 7 analog inputs which are user configurable as 0-5V, 0-10V, or 0-20mA inputs and 1 analog output that is user configurable as 0-10V or 0-20mA. Additional digital and analog I/O, including thermocouple inputs may be added using plug-in expansion boards. The VB-2XXX controllers feature one RS232 serial port, one RS485 serial port and each supports MODBUS RTU/ASCII protocols as either a Master or a Slave device.

The serial ports are also directly programmable via the Structured Text programming language, allowing the implementation of custom protocols, which makes them ideal for communicating to bar code scanners, RFID readers, or other serial devices. One CAN port is available and fully supports the SAE J1939 protocols , the NMEA2000 protocols and can be used to communicate to remote digital I/O and other controllers using Divelbiss OptiCAN. Ethernet and Wi-Fi portscan be used for MODBUS TCP Server and Client communications, as well as IoT/Telematics communications with the VersaCloud M2M platform. Using plug-in expansion boards, the VB-2XXX has optional cellular capability for communicating with the VersaCloud M2M platform. A GPS option is also available.

For applications that require data logging, VB-2XXX family solutions are available with a Real-Time-Clock, 512K of battery backed SRAM, and can accept an micro SD card. These features give the user ultimate flexibility and options for implementing data buffering and logging. When utilized with the Divelbiss VersaCloud M2M platform, the VB-2XXX controller can communicate data to VersaCloud, where it is date/time stamped and stored in the Cloud database for later viewing, analysis, and export. The VB-2XXX controllers support supply voltages from 8-32VDC and has a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +80°C, making it suitable for use in applications with extreme environmental requirements.
